Why is the inner tank making noise?

There are two potential causes for unusual sounds coming from the inner tank. Firstly, without proper maintenance or cleaning over the years, sediment accumulation inside the tank can increase, leading to knocking noises during heating. Secondly, excessively high water inlet pressure can result in water hammer effects, also known as hydraulic shocks, causing abnormal sounds.

1. Unusual sounds due to accumulation of sediment inside the inner tank

Possible reason:
Without proper maintenance or cleaning over the years, sediment accumulation inside the inner tank can increase, leading to knocking noises during heating.

Recommended solution:
Submit home repair request, let Esio’s professional technicians conduct the inner tank cleaning, avoid long-term accumulation of sediment inside the tank, which may lead to tank rupture due to sediment impact or affect the heating efficiency of the heating element due to sediment buildup.

2. Unusual sounds due to excessively high water inlet pressure

Possible reason:
If you hear knocking sounds only when turning on the hot water, it could be due to the "water hammer effect". When a faucet or valve is suddenly closed, the flow of water in the pipes continues due to inertia, causing a rapid increase in pressure at the point of closure. This sends pressure waves back through the pipes at the speed of sound.

Recommended solution:
Please arrange a technician to install a pressure reducing valve or water hammer arrestor to minimize water hammer effects. Alternatively, if there's a booster pump installed on the rooftop, its pressure settings can be adjusted accordingly.

💡 Esio recommends maintaining the water inlet pressure at or below 2 bar. Exceeding this pressure threshold can result in increased drainage from the safety valve (due to increased pressure that needs to be released), and it may also reduce the lifespan of the inner tank.
